Jessica Taylor is thrilled to be back in Austin, after graduating from the University of Texas with a degree in broadcast journalism.
Before reporting for CBS Austin, Jessica anchored and produced the weekend newscasts for KIVI in Boise, Idaho. In Boise, she specialized in both medical and education reporting. She received numerous Idaho Press Awards, including one in Spot News for her live coverage on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling, allowing the second incarcerated person in the country to receive gender confirmation surgery while in prison.
Jessica led a months-long special segment called "Safely Back to School," where she investigated how thousands of rural students in Idaho lack access to technology, and how virtual learning impacts them. Jessica also anchored and produced a special segment on the importance of telehealth in Idaho, which aired across the entire state.
Jessica volunteered as a Special Olympics cheerleading coach in Boise and hopes continue volunteering in Austin. She’s originally from the Dallas area and loves now being within driving distance to her family. She’s excited to join the morning team and get back in the Texas heat!
