The Texas Tip-Off featured everything the fans could want.

Dunks. 3's. More 3's. More dunks.

Lots of applause for all.

Nothing got more applause though - than the introduction of guard Andrew Jones. Jones did not play but continues his recovery from both leukemia and a broken toe.

In the women's scrimmage, Chasity Patterson knocked down four 3-pointers and led her side to a 2-point win.

Texas A&M graduate transfer Danni Williams dropped in 3's during the game, but even more in the 3-point contest. Williams tied Matt Coleman 10-10 in the final, but lost in sudden death.

Kerwin Roach could not defend his slam dunk championship. Roach lost out to winner Royce Hamm, Jr., as well as freshman Jaxson Hayes, who finished the event with a windmill dunk from the free throw line.

Roach then led the way in the men's scrimmage, going 5-5 from the field and finishing with 16 points. His team won 31-19.

The men open their season November 6 against Eastern Illinois. The women open their season two days later against Duquesne.
