How will the billion dollar bond affect Austin's youth?

Will the bond affect your child's education?

Economists predict that more than 100,000 new residents will move to Austin in the next two years, and that the area will grow local employment by more than three percent in 2017 and 2018.

There are major projects under construction in downtown Austin. TXDOT has an $8.1 billion plan to improve traffic congestion on interstate I-35, Travis County proposed a 2017 Bond for over $158 million for western Travis County improvements, and City of Austin's $720 million 2016 Mobility Bond package will help Austin be more mobile and safe.

The Austin Independent School District voters overwhelmingly approved a bond for $1.050 billion. This bond is designed to modernize or construct 16 new campus facilities to create twenty-first century learning spaces. Key projects included in the bond are:

"Districtwide improvements to technology for teachers, students and transportation

"Improvements to address overcrowding and other critical needs

"Reinvention programs for twenty-first century learning

These numerous projects in the city will create subcontracting opportunities for small minority businesses. In an effort to inform the community of these upcoming opportunities, an Outreach Event has been planned as follows:
