CONWAY, S.C. (WPDE) — A South Carolina woman's love for gingerbread houses has landed her a spot on national television.

Sharon Buckwell is the co-owner of The Gingerbread Ladies, based out of Conway. Thirty five years later her business venture is paying off big time on the Food Network show "Haunted Gingerbread Showdown."

"It was a such an exciting time such an awesome, awesome experience. I learned so much. I met so many great wonderful people," said Sharon Buckwell, who's competing on the the show.

Buckwell stated the whole experience has been surreal since she first was flown out to Denver to film.

"Yeah it’s the first time nationally, this is fantastic it’s the Haunted Gingerbread Showdown," said Buckwell.

For the last 35 years, Buckwell has been baking gingerbread and turning it into a work of art. She now makes and ships over 1,000 gingerbread houses per year across the country.

"We’ve got some regular customers, we’ve got a big order that goes up to Pennsylvania, that’ll go up in a couple of weeks, we’re meeting here in Pennsylvania and her order is about 200 mini houses," said Buckwell.

After being flown to Denver, and given the reality TV star treatment including but not limited to hair and makeup, now that she's back home, Buckwell says she's looking forward to tuning in to her drama filled episode, one week out from the show's finale.

"I compete this Sunday with 2 other teams so there’s 3 teams again and the winner of this show goes to the finale which is on the 28th and I really hope I win, just have to watch and see," said Buckwell.
