US Marshals searching for man wanted for 2017 homicide in Austin
Gustavo Sandoval Linan, 29, is wanted on a first-degree murder charge for an incident that happened in August 2017. Linan is accused of shooting and running over Valente Garcia-Hernandez at the Idlewild Apartments in North Austin.
"Initially this was a call on a pedestrian versus a vehicle. When the police arrived on the scene, they quickly learned this was something towards a possible homicide," said Deputy U.S. Marshal Brandon Filla.
Linan was allegedly involved with the victim's ex-girlfriend.
"There's one pop that goes off according to witnesses on scene, and then there's tire tracks on this victim. It was something very subtle, very quick," said Filla.
U.S. Marshals believe he fled to his native Mexico but someone may know where he is and how to bring him to justice. Linan is considered armed and dangerous.
"He was always known to drive a 2001 Chevy Tahoe and was also known to always have a firearm in his possession in that vehicle," said Filla.
Gustavo Linan is 5'5 and weighs 160 pounds. If you have any information on his whereabouts call the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force at 512-800-4213.
