Fugitive gang member on the run after tampering with drug test could be in Austin area
35-year-old Elijah Barrientos was on parole from a drug conviction when his parole officer caught him trying to falsify a drug test.
“He went in for a visitation with that parole officer and took a urine test which he was caught tampering with that urinalysis,” said Deputy U.S. Marshal Brandon Filla.
After that, Barrientos stopped reporting and hasn't been seen since. He has a long criminal history, including 18 arrests and 10 convictions.
“Those arrests and convictions pertain to matters such as controlled substances, dangerous drugs, evading police, robbery,” Filla said.
Based on his history, officers think Barrientos could still be using drugs.
“He's pretty much incriminated himself to say, hey I probably have a drug problem, I've been back on this, I don't want to fail this,” said Filla. “He knows good and well that he's a wanted individual.”
And they're focusing their search in the Austin area.
He has family and associates, he's known to reside at the 500 block of Blue Valley Dr. in Austin, Texas,” Filla said. “And he's also a confirmed member of the Tango Blast.”
Elijah Barrientos is 5'10” and weighs 230 pounds.
He has several noticeable tattoos, including on his face and neck.
