SAN ANTONIO - A young girl is safe after being kidnapped at gunpoint last week.

Alexander McCormick, 35, was arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Bexar County Sheriff's deputies said that around 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 27 three high schoolers were driving in West Bexar County when one of them noticed a black Doge Ram pickup truck following them.

According to Sheriff Javier Salazar, the pickup cut them off at a red light and forced them to stop. McCormick allegedly jumped out of the truck with a gun and held the three kids at gunpoint, demanding the 15-year-old girl get out of the car. The young girl, out of fear, did get out of the car and got into the truck with McCormick.

Investigators said that McCormick is the father of a teenage boy who is a romantic relationship with the victim.

Deputies said that the young girl was taken to the house where McCormick's son was at. Later, McCormick and his son dropped the victim off at a nearby park.

Investigators praised the young victim for communicating on Instagram with one of the teenage boys she was riding with before being taken against her will. She was able to tell the young boy where she was going to be dropped off at. Fortunately, deputies were with the young man during the video call and get deputies in position to take the suspect into custody when he arrived at the park.

McCormick and his son were taken into custody. A handgun and a shotgun were both found inside the truck.

At the time of his arrest, McCormick was out on bond for another felony offense.

McCormick is being held at the Bexar County Jail on $120,000 bond.
