UT: DKR stadium seating arrangement change meant to 'enhance game day environment'
Changes are coming to where University of Texas students, the Longhorn band and visiting fans will sit at DKR Texas Memorial Stadium for the 2018 season.
A release sent out on Friday said the seating arrangement changes inside DKR are to “further enhance the game day environment.”
The student section will now be general admission, “rewarding those who come early with the best seat location,” UT said. The new student section will be primarily in the lower bowl of the southeast corner and the south end zone which will also include the Longhorn band.
The decision behind moving the band is to “preserve the tradition of the band sitting among peers,” stated the release.
For season ticket holders in the southeast bowl, they’ll now flip to the near mirror image in the northeast part of DKR.
Overflow seating will be in the southeast upper deck. Also upstairs will be the visiting team’s fans. The release put out Friday stated most Big 12 member schools put visiting team seats in the upper deck.
There isn’t a price increase for season ticket holders for 2018.
The home opener for the 2018 season is slated for September 8th against Tulsa followed by USC and TCU.
