Police ID one of the victims in SE Austin vehicle fire
AUSTIN, Texas —
The Austin Police Department confirms some details about the South East Austin vehicle fire occurred on Saturday November 11 around 5:54 p.m. at the 6500 block of Riverside Dr.
According to police, 2 people died in the accident. One of the victims has been identified as 18-year-old Anderson Palma-Rodriguez.
Preliminary investigation shows that Palma-Rodriguez was racing another vehicle in his black, 4-door Honda.
The victim was driving westbound on E. Riverside Dr. at a high rate of speed when he lost control, striking a billboard post. The vehicle then caught fire.
This case is still under investigation. Police is asking anyone with information regarding the accident to call the APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-4424.
Two people were declared deceased after a vehicle fire in southeast Austin Saturday night.
Austin-Travis County EMS stated the location as the intersection of Riverside Drive and Vargas Road, with 2 possible occupants of a vehicle that was on fire.
Five minutes later, ATCEMS confirmed that two people were deceased in the vehicle.
Austin Police are asking the public to avoid the area. They anticipate the roadway to be shut down several hours.
