Travis Co. Sheriff's Office releases sketch of sexual assault suspect
Travis County Sheriff's Office says detectives need your help closing an unsolved sexual assault.
It happened two weeks ago, but investigators are out of leads. The victim is recovering right now. The man who attacked her also took her cell phone, but investigators hope a new sketch of the man plus a plea for more information might get some results
"We're going on the premise that this suspect is still out there," said Detective Jeff Ford. A man sexually assaulted and robbed a woman in the Churchill Crossing apartment complex in Wells Branch area two weeks ago.
It's been scary says one grandmother, who lives in the complex. "My granddaughter gets off at 1 o'clock. I wait. I walk her, make sure she gets in safe," she said. She thinks the attacker knows his way around, "Because of where he did, where he drug her between building 1 and 2, who would know to take her back in that area," said the grandmother who did not want to be identified because the attacker is still on the loose.
Now though, Detective Ford is asking for information from the public. "We've had more than 11 leads that we've followed and unfortunately none of those leads have led to a suspect," he told reporters.
And the grandmother is hoping the case gets solved soon. "What happened to her was a bad tragedy. She is going through a lot. Someone needs to speak up. We don't know that he lives here," she said.
The attacker is described as a light skinned black man with straight hair and a goatee. If you have info, call 512-854-1444.
