UPDATE (7/15/18, 10:20 a.m.)

The northbound and southbound lanes of I-35 at Farm-to-Market 1103 are now open.

If you're planning on taking I-35 this weekend, you may want to be wary of a major construction project.

Crews will be closing all of the main lanes of I-35 north and southbound traffic to demolish the bridge at Farm-to-Market 1103 near New Braunfels.

Lanes will be closed starting on Saturday, July 14 at 9 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The new portion of the bridge will be open to westbound traffic only, once the demolitions of the old bridge is complete. All eastbound traffic will need to travel south to FM 2252, make a U-turn to FM 1103. The eastbound portion of the bridge will be complete by spring 2019.

This $7.2 million project is to expand the FM 1103 bridge over I-35 to five lanes, plus U-turn bridges. Construction will be complete in Summer 2019.
