Three people were sent to the hospital early Friday morning after a wrong-way crash took place near St. Johns Avenue, according to the Austin Police Department and the Austin-Travis County EMS.

It happened at the 600 block of East St. Johns Avenue and southbound I-35 frontage road at around 12:51 a.m.

Police say the driver traveling north in the southbound lanes of the frontage road collided with a car traveling south, with a second collision with another vehicle happening afterwards.

EMS medics declared a trauma alert on all of the three people involved in the incident, one with serious injuries and two with non-life-threatening injuries. All three were taken to Dell Seton Medical Center for treatment.
