Texas Senate honors man who exchanged gunfire with Sutherland Springs church shooter
On Tuesday, the Texas Senate honored the man who exchanged gunfire with the Sutherland Springs church shooter.
"This was a real hero that didn't want to be a hero who bare foot standing behind a truck took on a person with deadly firepower," said Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick.
State senators passed a resolution recognizing Stephen Willeford for his courageous action.
The former NRA instructor rushed to the church, shooting the gunman, before chasing him in a truck.
Twenty-six people died -- but lawmakers said Willeford's actions likely prevented others from dying.
