Two brothers from Bastrop kicked off the 2016 season for Blues on the Green Wednesday.

The Peterson Brothers consist of 17-year-old Alex on bass, violin and saxophone and 19-year-old Glenn on guitar and percussion. Alex is a junior at Bastrop High School, his favorite subject (outside of music) is history. Glenn is a freshman at at Huston-Tillotson University, studying to be an audio engineer.

On Wednesday, they preformed in front of thousands to open for Billy Gibbons and Jimmie Vaughan at Blues on the Green.

"It makes us feel great because this is the first time being able to do it, we're just really blessed to be here," said Alex standing next to his younger brother Glenn with a smile on his face.

Sharing a stage with blues legend isn't anything new for the duo who's combined age doesn't reaches 36. They've opened for Los Lonely Boys, Lisa Marie Presley, Buddy Guy and B.B. King.

The two can't legally have a drink, but they have a regular gig at the historic Continental Club every Monday at 6:30 p.m.

"Yeah, I think after 9 o'clock, you have to be with someone who's over 21 (if you're underage)," said Alex.

Last August, the Peterson Brothers Band released their first album.

When they're not studying, the two enjoy traveling the country to share their music. Glenn said he actually missed his prom for a show in Florida.

"We just want to keep doing it, just keep having fun and do this for a really long time," said Alex.
