WEBSTER, Texas - A suspected stalker was shot and killed after he kicked in the front door of a woman's apartment, say investigators.

The shooting happened around 9 p.m. Monday at the Gateway at Ellington apartments off Gulf Freeway in Far Southeast Harris County.

Houston Police said when they arrived, they found the man with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say that the man had kicked in the front door and was entering the apartment when the woman shot him once. The woman told police that she moved to this apartment to get away from the suspect, but he obviously found out where she lived. Police found significant damage to the apartment's door frame.

There were several other people inside the apartment at the time of the shooting.

Police are still investigating.
