Renters unlikely to benefit from property tax proposal

Despite a third of Texas households being renters, many of whom are low-income, the state's ongoing legislative dispute over property tax relief largely overlooks them, casting doubts on whether the proposed reductions in property taxes, increased homestead exemptions, and additional relief for seniors and homeowners with disabilities would trickle down to benefit them, especially since landlords are unlikely to pass on these savings.
