Police investigating reported SE Austin attempted kidnapping
Police say they are investigating a reported attempted kidnapping that occurred Tuesday morning in Southeast Austin.
Austin Police say it happened in the 8200 block of Georgie Trace Avenue, just east of Onion Creek Metropolitan Park.
CBS Austin was able to contact the family who made the report. They did not want to reveal their identity.
According to the father, at around 6:45 a.m. one of his older sons left to take his mother to work. Not long after they left four young men knocked on the door. His 11-year-old daughter answered the door and the men, who were wearing masks and gloves, grabbed her and put her in a black vehicle.
They drove off out of the neighborhood with the girl. Her brother came back home at around 7:15 a.m. to find the front door open and his sister gone, but her backpack still at home, the father says. A short time later she came running back to the house with her clothes ripped. She said she kicked and punched the men and jumped out of the car and ran all the way home.
Police are still investigating this incident. APD Child Abuse Detectives are asking anyone that may have witnessed anything or seen something out of place to call 512-974-6880.
