Police investigating East Austin stabbing

A man was seriously injured in a stabbing Friday night at an East Austin park, EMS officials say.

It happened at approximately: 8:15 p.m. at Parque Zaragoza Neighborhood Park near the intersection of North Pleasant Valley Road and East 7th Street.

Austin-Travis County EMS says a man in his 30s was transported to Dell-Seton Medical Center with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

Austin Police say there are two crimes scenes they are investigating. One scene surrounded a basketball court. They say a large group was involved, which scattered after the stabbing. Belongings scattered on the court were taped off with crime scene tape.

At a second scene about 100 yards away, police also taped off a 20 foot by 20 foot patch of grass. A person was placed in the back of a police car but officers would not confirm if that individual was detained or arrested in connection to the stabbing. Further details were not immediately available.
