Police ID elderly man killed in SE Austin crash

Police have identified the elderly man who was killed last month in a two-vehicle crash in Southeast Austin.

It happened Saturday, Feb. 26, at the intersection of Hwy 183 and Riverside Drive.

The Austin Police Department says at around 6:45 a.m. officers responded to a collision between a Kia Sorento and a pickup truck.

The driver of the truck -- identified as 83-year-old Edward Brown -- was transported to a local hospital here he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

APD said the occupant of the Kia remained at the scene cooperated with the investigation.

This crash is being investigated as Austin’s 13th fatal crash of 2022, resulting in 14 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2021, there were 19 fatal crashes resulting in 21 fatalities, according to APD.
