Police arrest man accused of burglarizing Amy's Ice Creams locations
AUSTIN, Texas —
Police have arrested an Austin man they call a "career criminal" accused of burglarizing two Amy's Ice Creams locations.
On March 4th, 2018 Austin Police responded to a call about a burglary at Amy’s Ice Creams on S. IH 35.
The manager reported that after watching the surveillance video, the suspect forced entry into the business safe with power tools and stole $1,446 in cash.
According to police documents, on July 10th, 2018, officers reviewed this case along with several other cases that had possibly been committed by the same suspect, Gerard John Ricasolo, 55.
Ricasolo is a career criminal who was paroled on August 23rd, 2017 after serving several years in prison for a burglary series that he was involved with in 2012. Ricasolo has specific methods regarding entry into businesses as he typically manipulates the locking mechanism by twisting the dead bolt.
He also typically wears a white long sleeve button down shirt and prescription type glasses during the burglaries and usually targets business safes.
After reviewing and comparing, officials positively identified Ricasolo as the suspect of the burglary at Amy’s Ice Creams that occurred on March 4th.
