Pedestrian hit, killed in southeast Austin

AUSTIN, Texas-- A man in his 30s was struck and killed in southeast Austin Monday morning.

According to Austin Travis County-EMS, medics responded to the intersection of East Stassney Lane and Nuckols Crossing Road around 5: 57 a.m. ATCEMS pronounced the man dead on scene.

Officials say the crash was initially reported as a hit and run after the driver of the vehicle was nowhere to be found. Austin Police say they were able to locate the vehicle and the driver after following leftover debris from the crash. Police say the driver is cooperating at this point.

APD says they received calls reporting a man sitting in the east bound lane before the fatal crash occurred.

Expect closures and delays in the area. No further information was available.
