AUSTIN, Texas — Multiple lanes of U.S. 183 and State Highway 45 are closed in all directions while investigators work the scene of a crash that left one person critically injured Monday night.
At 8:50p.m., Austin-Travis County announced that they, along with the Austin Fire Department, were responding to the scene in the 13800 block of North U.S. Highway 183, near the intersection of North FM 620, north of Anderson Mill Road.
911 callers reported that the vehicle had driven off of an overpass and plummeted 100 feet to the ground below.
Ten minutes later, officials reported the driver had been pinned inside their vehicle, but was quickly extricated.
Medics transported the patient to St. David's Round Rock Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries.
Expect extended traffic delays and avoid the area if possible.
