Wednesday, the City of Austin released results of a community satisfaction survey.

The survey, completed in 2019, asks participants to rate their overall satisfaction on issues like affordability, mobility and safety.

"Quality of Life" saw the biggest decline in ratings since last year -- with 74.5 percent of people satisfied in 2018 and 64.6 percent satisfied in 2019.

Of the 2,049 households polled, 83 percent were dissatisfied with traffic flow on major highways, 68 percent said there's not enough affordable housing for low and middle income families and 55 percent don't feel safe walking alone downtown at night.

Austin City Council member Jimmy Flannigan tells CBS Austin he's not surprised to see traffic and affordability high on the list of frustrations.

Flannigan says the city's land development code rewrite is expected to help alleviate affordability and could have an impact on lessening traffic.

The survey shows an increase in ratings compared to last year when it comes to street lighting, quality of city services and pedestrian access.

Overall, Austin remains one of the highest rated cities to live, work and raise children.
