Nation's oldest living WW II veteran enjoying newly renovated Austin home
Richard Overton, the nation's oldest living WW II veteran, is enjoying his newly renovated Austin home.
The 111-year-old veteran is now living comfortably after a rough summer. An August home tour was postponed after Overton battled pneumonia.
Now he's back on the street that bears his name in a newly renovated home.
Meals on Wheels Central Texas and the Home Depot Foundation spent the last several weeks giving his home some much needed improvements.
Overton now has central heating and air, an updated kitchen and bathroom, and laminate flooring.
"I like the way you'd done the floors. I'd done these floors a lot of times, but this looks new," Overton said.
The work took three weeks to complete, and Overton says he's ready to enjoy it.
