Multiple RVs catch fire overnight in Pflugerville

RV fire in Pflugerville (CBS Austin)

Tuesday morning emergency crews battled a large fire that erupted in a parking lot fire in Pflugerville.

The fire broke out around 3 a.m. in the 1600 block of Grand Avenue Parkway near I-35. The Austin Fire Department assisted in battling the fire.

Fire officials say 26 RVs were destroyed, and another 25 were damaged.

Detectives still do not have a cause.

"The cause is still under investigation. The Travis County Fire Marshal's Office is working the investigation. Due to the structural collapse of the structure, it's going to be some time before they're able to get in and work at finding the cause and origin," said Travis County ESD 2 Battalion Chief Michael Anderson.

Anderson says no one was injured.

He says they're fortunate this is the case, otherwise this fire could have turned deadly.

"All of the materials that were involved were highly volatile. There's a lot of propane and other things stored, so it's good this was just a storage unit and wasn't necessarily something that was occupied," Anderson said.

AFD posted photos on Twitter showing large flames. Damage estimates are undetermined.
