PHOTOS: More than 400 live animals seized from home in Caldwell County

AUSTIN, Texas (KEYE) - The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office says more than 400 live animals were seized during an investigation into animal cruelty on Monday.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies served a search warrant at a residence on Misty Drive near Uhland around 6:30 a.m. With the help of the SPCA of Dallas, approximately 430 live animals were removed from the property, including:

  • 28 dogs
  • 15 goats
  • 26 rabbits
  • Nine pigs
  • 86 snakes
  • Approximately 267 other animals, including guinea pigs, ferrets, skinks, bearded dragons, lizards, geckos, gerbils, a tarantula, turtles and tortoises, mice and rats, birds (including doves, pigeons, ducks and turkeys)

The SPCA of Texas is providing care and housing for the animals.

Deputies say multiple animals were found dead on the property. The case is still under investigation.
