More Austin Police officers added to SXSW command center
Starting Tuesday, South by Southwest festival-goers will see a lot more police and EMS presence around Downtown Austin.
The music festival starts Wednesday, and first responders say they'll be ready for the expected up-tick in 9-1-1 calls.
The Austin Police Department will be adding 120 more officers to its SXSW command center.
The special response team is trained in crowd control -- everything from large crowds milling about to full scale riots.
The extra police were scheduled before the Austin package bombings.
