A gunman is accused of aggravated assault with deadly weapon after he allegedly entered a man’s apartments and fired a shot.

The suspect, identified as William Whitfield, knocked on Terrace Wade Sanders’ door at La Unica Hotel at around 4 a.m., and since the victim’s dogs did not bark, he thought it was someone familiar and opened the door.

According to documents, when Sanders opened, a man wearing a ski mask pointed a silver automatic pistol at his face and said, “Where’s it at?”

Sanders said he put his hands up as soon as he saw the gun and says he felt “terrified” and thought Whitfield was going to kill him.

The suspect pointed his pistol at Sanders as he opened his freezer door. Sanders said the gunman “slammed” the freezer door shut and backed out of the apartment. According to the victim, as Whitfield was leaving, he fired a shot in Sander’s direction but the shot hit a framed picture, left of his head.

William Whitfield’s bond has been set at $50,000.
