KILLEEN, Texas — The victim's age has been corrected based on new information from the Killeen Police Department.
Killeen police are investigating two homicides that occurred just over 12 hours apart, including the death of a 16-year-old, in the last two days.
The first deadly shooting incident occurred in the 600 block of North Gray Street on Sunday, May 7 at around 7:42 p.m.
Responding officers found a 38-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene nearly 1 hour later. Police have withheld their identity pending notification of next of kin.
One person was arrested in this case, but authorities did not reveal their identity either.
This investigation remains ongoing.
The second deadly shooting left a 16-year-old dead and two others injured Monday morning in Killeen.
Police responded to reports of shots fired at the Star Mart Convenience Store located at 3603 Zephyr Road on May 8 at around 10:03 a.m. While officers were en route, they received reports of a shooting victim in the 1600 block of Becker Drive -- less than one mile away.
Additional officers were sent to Becker Drive where they found three male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Hospital, a second to Seton Medical Center Harker Heights, and a third to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.
The first two are in stable condition, authorities said. The third victim, a 16-year-old, later died at the hospital. Killeen PD identified the teenager as Eugene Sonny Brownlow.
Detectives at the convenience store did find shell casings in the parking lot, confirming a shooting took place there, and then the victims searched for help one mile from the scene.
The suspect, in this case, remains at large. The investigation remains ongoing.
This is the fourth murder for the City of Killeen in 2023.
