'Godzilla' lizard found at downtown golf course returned to owner
A lizard dubbed "Godzilla" found at a downtown golf course was returned to her owner Tuesday.
The City of San Antonio Animal Care Services said the giant tegu lizard called "Godzilla" is actually named Dottie and she had been stolen and missing from her owner since late August. Dottie was first spotted at the Brackenridge golf course Monday.
Dottie's owner wishes to remain anonymous but said the thief who stole her broke her cage lock and the fence outside when they stole her.
A family member called Animal Care Services after seeing the media coverage on the lizard, and Dottie curled right up to her owner when he told her story and showed pictures.
Animal Care Services said the shelter's website is updated regularly for animals brought in and is open every day for people to find their missing pets.
