Freight train derails in WilCo after track is washed out
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas —
A freight train derailed Saturday morning in Williamson County after the track was washed out, according to Capital Metro.
The incident was tweeted out by Sheriff Robert Chody, who stated that the derailment occurred along County Road 201 and that the train was carrying gravel.
No injuries were reported and there is no risk to the public or hazardous materials, said Sheriff Chody.
A representative with Cap Metro tells CBS Austin that the train is operated by Watco Companies. Cap Metro owns 162 miles of track between Llano and Giddings but freight trains mainly use the track.
The track is expected to be cleared by late Sunday or early Monday, the spokesperson says.
