Former AFD Lt. gets 5 years deferred adjudication for recording co-worker in shower
A former Austin Fire Department Lieutenant who pleaded guilty last month to recording a female firefighter in a shower room without her consent could end up with a clean criminal record.
Police say James Baker hid a camera inside the showers at a fire station in 2017.
On Friday, a judge sentenced him to 5 years of deferred adjudication. That means if he obeys the terms of his probation the case will be dismissed in five years without a conviction.
Baker agreed to a plea deal back in October where prosecutors determined he will not spend a day in jail. As a condition of the plea deal Baker will surrender his license as a firefighter, EMT and EMT instructor. He will also pay a $1,000 fine.
