One person hospitalized after North Austin apartment complex fire
At 6:12 a.m. the Austin Fire Department responded to a call about a fire on two floors of an apartment complex in North Austin.
The fire happened at the Argosy at Crestview Apartments in the Crestview neighborhood near the intersection of North Lamar and Airport Blvd.
Fire fighters battled the fire for about 15 minutes before they were able to put it out.
Austin Travis County EMS transported one patient to the hospital for evaluation for possible smoke inhalation.
The fire heavily damaged two apartments and the fire control damaged one additional units, AFD said. Seven other units suffered smoke damage.
Investigators ruled the fire accidental from improperly discarded smoking material.
Damage estimates total $300,000 and six people have been displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross and apartment management.
