Summers in Texas are sweltering, meaning the air conditioning is cranking as you try to stay cool.

And while that usually leads to high utility bills, in Texas, at least, our energy costs are on the lower side.

A new study from WalletHub compared the total monthly energy bills in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia, accounting for the usage of electricity, natural gas, motor fuel and home heating oil.

According to the report, Texas ranks 33 overall, with an average monthly energy bill of $265.

For home electricity cost, Texas ranks 36th overall, the 16th lowest prices. Natural gas prices are also the 12th-lowest.
