The driver of an 18-wheeler was arrested Wednesday after allegedly punching another driver in a road-rage incident in East Austin.

The incident happened at approximately 3:56 p.m. near the area of FM 969 and SH 130.

A victim claims he was traveling westbound on FM 969, where traffic merges into one lane, when he merged over in front of an 18-wheeler.

The victim added the truck driver, identified as 33-year-old Chad Ballard, got out of the vehicle and approached his car. When the victim rolled down the window, Ballard started yelling “Why did you cut me off?”

That’s when, the victim says, he rolled his window back up. However, Ballard reached in and punched the victim in the face.

The affidavit says the victim did not have any visible injuries, but said that during and after the attack he had complaint of pain.

A witness who was also on scene said he was stopped in traffic in front of the victim and saw the whole incident.

Based on the license plate information, Ballard was eventually located and arrested
