SAN ANTONIO — UPDATE on Thursday, January 31 at 9 a.m.: Federal and local law enforcement officials said at least three people were taken into custody during a raid at two locations in San Antonio on Thursday.
The second raid occurred at a business along Industry Park Drive, located near I-35 and Walzem Road.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Dante Sorianello (Drug Enforcement Administration) said the raids were part of a year-long undercover investigation. Salazar estimated millions of dollars worth of assets were seized in the operation, which included the assistance of the Internal Revenue Service.
The suspects who were taken into custody are expected to appear Thursday in federal court on charges of money laundering. See previous story below.
Authorities took one person into custody during an early morning raid at a home in an exclusive community on the Far North Side.
The raid happened at a home along Champions Run, located in a neighborhood along Canyon Golf Road and Stone Oak Parkway.
Neighbors reported lots of banging in the area at about 6 a.m. on Thursday morning.
Deputies did not say why the raid took place or who they were looking for, but did state that one person was taken into custody.
No other information was released.
