Body found in NE Austin structure fire

UPDATE: According to APD, the structure located at 9507 Middle Fiskville Rd. was a total loss with damages estimated at $115.000 and $20,000 in contents. The Austin Police Department and the Austin Fire Department are working together in the investigation.

A body was found in the aftermath of a house fire Monday night in Northeast Austin.

It happened in the 9500 block of Middle Fiskville Road, just northeast of the Rundberg Lane and I-35 intersection.

Crews with the Austin Fire Department responded to the scene at approximately 9:30 p.m. AFD officials said crews were initially hindered by structural integrity issues because of heavy fire conditions on arrival.

Austin Police confirm one body was found inside the burnt out structure.

Residents of the surrounding area told CBS Austin they thought the house was abandoned however AFD says they believe it was not. They are currently investigating who was killed and if they died from the fire or other causes.
