Video shows car crashing into MetroRail train in Downtown Austin

UPDATE: Just released video shows the moment a car slammed into the side of a MetroRail train in Downtown Austin.

It happened Thursday morning near I-35 and east 4th Street.

17 people were on board the train at the time -- no one on the train was hurt.

Austin-Travis County EMS took the driver of the car to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police are still investigating what led the driver to crash into the train.

A Capital Metro spokesperson said when lights are flashing and the rail arm is starting to come down, people should expect a train and stop.


Austin-Travis County EMS and Austin Police are at the scene of an crash between a MetroRail train and a car.

It is happening at the intersection of East 4th Street and N I-35 service road southbound.

Police say a Toyota Camry hit the train. The road is shut down.

According to officials, minor injuries are being reported.
