The death of 23-year-old Mark Anthony Conditt, the Austin bomber, has been ruled a suicide.

Conditt detonated one of his explosive devices in his vehicle as officers approached on I-35 in Round Rock last Wednesday.

According to Williamson County Justice of the Peace Dain Johnson, Pct. 1, “The cause of death for Mark Anthony Conditt is multiple penetrating shrapnel injuries, and at this point, the death is ruled as suicide."

There had been some question as to the actual cause of Conditt's death as one of the officers fired on the vehicle when the bomb exploded.

Conditt is believed to be responsible for five explosions in Austin and Schertz that left two people dead and multiple others injured.
