Police say two people were injured Wednesday in multiple shooting incidents in South Austin.

According to the Austin Police Department, a suspect was taken into custody at around 6 p.m.

It started at approximately 2 p.m. in the 8100 block of the South I-35 northbound service road, just north of the Slaughter Lane intersection. That's where the suspect shot at a vehicle, injuring the driver.

Police said the suspect was possibly involved in three other incidents at nearby locations. One of those locations was the Post South Lamar Apartments, where 32-year-old Christian Meroney was found shot to death on Monday. Police could not confirm if that incident is connected to Wednesday's shooting spree.

Two people from Wednesday's shootings were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Even though APD officials could not say if Wednesday's shootings were related to Monday's homicide, the Post South Lamar management team sent out an email saying the suspect for Monday's homicide had been arrested.

People who live inside the apartment complex say the last three days have made them more vigilant.

"There's a lot of hearsay and rumors going around, and you're not sure what to believe. The police really aren't releasing much information right now for obvious reasons. We're just going about our daily business trying to keep doing what we're doing, but having this in the back of our minds is tough," said Adam Harrison. "When this sort of thing happens it sort of takes you back. Are we really that safe in the areas that we live in. We always have to be vigilant and aware because no matter where we are something can always happen."

Harrison's wife also captured video of an arrest.

APD officials say this man arrested is connected to Wednesday's shootings.

Residents at the apartment complex are just hoping for answers soon.

"Hopefully police can give us more information and we can feel safe and be able to go to bed not worrying about anything tonight," Harrison said.

Locations of Wednesday's shootings:

  • 4400 block of West Gate Boulevard
  • 8100 South I-35 northbound service road
  • 1500 South Lamar Boulevard
  • 1800 East Stassney Lane
