16-year-old arrested in connection with N Austin fatal shooting

A 16-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a teenager in North Austin earlier this week, police said Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Ahsun Madison, also 16 years old, was found with an apparent gunshot wound at 9120 Northgate Blvd. on Monday evening. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:01 p.m., according to the Austin Police Department.

Authorities said the suspect, whose name was not released due to his age, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He was booked into the Gardner-Betts Juvenile Justice Center.

The suspect had been involved in multiple shootings in the area earlier this year, including being present during a homicide in January, police said. He was out on bond for prior shootings at the time of Monday's incident.

This marks Austin's 48th homicide of 2024. Police are urging anyone with information to contact the department or submit anonymous tips through Capital Area Crime Stoppersor by calling512-472-8477.

A reward up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
