Forever Families: Ty'N
It wasn't just a girls' day at the spa. Forever Families child Ty'N got some pampering and also thought about what her adoptive family will be like.
"I would like to see Ty'n find her forever family. Find permanency with someone and a family that she can call her mom and her dad," said Ty'N's adoption caseworker Casey Jordan.
12-year-old Ty'n gets a rare break from school to soak up some relaxation at Retreat Luxury Nail Bar in Austin. She's camera shy but like her nail colors, she has a vibrant side.
"Once she's gotten to know you she does open up. The home she is in right now has other children and she's very playful with them," said Jordan.
Jordan is Ty'N's adoption prep specialist and is working to find her forever family.
"I've seen it work. I've seen kids adopted many times a month. And I know it can happen. I know it's a possibility for Ty'N and I'm going to continue to push for that," said Jordan.
She recommends parents who are committed to Ty'N and active in her school, where she joined the band and is learning to play the flute.
Also, willing to keep in touch with Ty'N's older brother who has been a good influence. Ty'N loves animals and hopes to have a dog.
"Even though a giraffe is her favorite animal, she understands she can't have a giraffe but she would like a pet," said Jordan.
Ty'N is also an avid reader, but there's one book she looks forward to getting the most.
"I'll bring the child the family's book. Which will have pictures of the family. If there are kids, pets, what the home looks like. And we go through the book together," said Jordan.
"It's exciting. That day will be absolutely exciting. I will be eager to bring her that book and to show her this is your forever family. This is it. And she's been waiting for that," said Jordan.
