Forever Families: Ranayja
AUSTIN, Texas —
11-year-old Ranayja tumbled out of the big red helmet to meet her biggest fans.
"When we walked up, she was shocked to know that someone would take this time out just for her. For her self-esteem and to know that somebody cares, this is awesome," said Iris Hackett, Licensed Professional Counselor.
A personal cheerleading lesson from the Hyde Park Baptist High School Cheerleaders sent Ranayja soaring!
"What do you want to be when you grow up?" asked CBS Austin Reporter Lindsay Liepman.
"Cheerleader!" said Ranayja.
Counselor Iris Hackett says Ranayja has natural athleticism that can be nurtured by a forever family.
"We need to have that stable home. One that is consistent. Someone who is going to be there when we're feeling good and when we're not feeling good," said Hackett.
"Go big red let's go!" cheered Ranayja with the squad.
You can tell, this day, is a feeling-good kind of day and Ranayja hopes tomorrow will be even better.
"I'm just glad that I'm going to have a family so I can have a better life," said Ranayja.
"You know that family is out there. And they're waiting on you," said Liepman.
CBS Austin's "Forever Families" airs every Wednesday at 6:30 pm.
