Forever Families: Edgar & Steven
For two teen brothers, life is all about sports. 13-year-old Steven and 15-year-old Edgar have a lifetime of memories together. Some good and some that have made them stronger.
"He always has my back. Tries to encourage me," said Steven.
"I just really love my brother. He's really been out there for me," said Edgar.
They had to rise above peer pressure.
"It ain't worth it. My dad is in prison. I thought he was dead but they tell me he is in prison. I just don't want to live that life like my dad was," said Edgar.
"He has a big heart and just wants to do the best he can in life," said CPS Adoption Caseworker Elizabeth Harris.
Harris says both boys love sports.
"Doing those Hail Mary's. I always catch them. I'm pretty fast too," said Edgar.
Former UT Football Players Scott Emley and Matt Anderson spent the afternoon hanging out with the brothers. Scott owns High 5 in Lakeway, a family entertainment venue. A sports-oriented family is what both brothers hope for.
"The stability of knowing he can wake up every day in the same bed with his brother and not worrying about CPS to intervene in any way," said Harris.
Edgar wants to go to the University of Texas and play football. He also writes his own rap lyrics and wants to be like the Houston rappers he idolizes.
"I listen to rap that tells stories," said Edgar.
"He does have these dreams and just needs that extra push to achieve his dreams," said Harris.
