Forever Families: Daniella
She's a budding chef but 12-year-old Daniella also holds the recipe for a happy family. That recipe is simple: add smile after smile.
"You ready to make a salad?" asked Chef Dave from Cover 3 in Austin.
"Yes!" said Daniella.
We aproned up and joined Dave for a quick cooking class.
"Tell me to put the eggs in Dave," he said.
"Put the eggs in Dave," said Daniella.
Daniella tried dates and fried pickles for the first time while making the Allandale Salad, the restaurant's most popular item.
Kevin Wickham has known Daniella for years and works as her local permanency specialist.
"I want so badly for her to have her forever family and just be happy," said Wickham.
Daniella does too.
"If I have a forever family, that I love them, if they have one for me. I care about people. I care and I'm thoughtful," she said of what she wants her future forever family to know.
Daniella wears an arrow necklace and says she is ready for a new direction.
"I want to have a new start," said Daniella.
She loves math, the move "Frozen" and avocados.
"I'm gonna take the big one," she said as she picked up an avocado from the salad.
"I want to see her be successful but most of all I want to see a family come forward that will love her and cherish her ... and say she gets to be in our family and that she chose us over all the other people," said Wickham.
