Chicken wings are a staple of big football games, but People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants to change that.

Saturday, PETA is offering free vegan chicken wings to Austinites ahead of the big game at Mueller Lake Park.

PETA supporters will hold signs proclaiming, “Vegan Wings? Cluck, Yeah!”

“Every year, hundreds of millions of chickens are killed for Super Bowl Sunday, so PETA is encouraging fans to tuck into tasty game-day snacks that let chickens keep their wings,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “Everyone can score a touchdown for gentle birds by choosing vegan wings.”

The vegan wings from local plant-based food truck HapPea Vegans will be available Saturday, February 6 at 3 p.m. at 4550 Mueller Central Dr.
