Westlake QB Sam Ehlinger signs with Texas
In 1990 the Texas football team developed the mantra "Shock The Nation".
Westlake quarterback Sam Ehlinger inadvertently created his own mantra Thursday morning when discussing his first meeting with new Texas head football coach Tom Herman.
"He said me in this offense is gonna be scary, it's gonna scare the nation and I'm hoping that's exactly what's gonna happen," Ehlinger said.
Scare the nation.
Ehlinger, one of the top quarterbacks in the class of 2017, officially signed with the University of Texas. The Westlake High School product inked his signature with a cast on his right wrist thanks to a wrist injury that ended his season in the third round of the playoffs.
It was the third time this season Ehlinger missed time because of an injury. He hurt his knee, thumb and wrist, and played in just five games this season. That came after a junior season in which he led the Chaps to the 6A Division II state championship game, a loss to Galena Park North Shore.
Ehlinger will enroll early at Texas and start working out with the Longhorns in January.
