Police: Hostage situation in Baltimore
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore Police say are they responding to a hostage situation at a Burger King after a suspect wanted on a rape charge fled from police and ran into the restaurant with a gun in hand.
Police spokesman T.J. Smith said on Twitter that the suspect refused to pull over after being spotted by officers. Smith said the suspect's vehicle collided with another vehicle then fled on foot into the Burger King, which had other people inside when the suspect entered.
Smith said a SWAT team and negotiators are at the scene and police are asking the public to avoid the area in Southwest Baltimore.
