Law enforcement officials say a violent fugitive missing after cutting off his tracking bracelet may be hiding out in Austin.

Authorities have lost track of Joshua Coke.

“He removed that ankle monitor and he was last known to be located in Lakewood, Colorado,” said U.S. Deputy Marshal Brandon Filla.

Coke was also on house arrest at the time.

“He was released on bond and when you are released on bond there are conditions set by pretrial,” said Filla.

Filla said the conditions were ordered after Coke was caught with a semi-automatic pistol last January. As a convicted felon, that’s illegal.

Coke’s last known address is in Lakewood, Colorado but Filla believes he may have made his way back to Austin considering his lengthy criminal history in Central Texas.

“He has things such as failure to ID as a fugitive as well as deadly conduct,” said Filla. “He's got aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as well as two additional assaults with a family member.”

Coke is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds.

“We hope the public can identify this individual with the significant amount of tattoos he has on his neck, on the left and right arm, his back as well as his abdomen,” said Filla.
