Joe David Paiz, 50, was convicted in 2005 of indecency with a child by contact.

"It always seems to be someone that we know best, someone that we're comfortable with. What I call predators: they prey upon a time of vulnerability to that victim," said Deputy U.S. Marshal Brandon Filla.

Paiz was sentenced to 10 years of probation but failed to comply with sex offender registration.

"He left employment and didn't notify the registrar in Williamson County, and also changed his address," said Filla. "So since 2007, he's pretty much gone off the grid."

Paiz, who also goes by the nickname "Beebee," has family in Bastrop County. Despite how long he's been on the run, authorities believe someone may have information on where he is now.

"Maybe they knew him back in 2005. This is a case that went from Hutto to Florence and now has some family ties in Bastrop County and Elgin," said Filla. "Maybe someone knows something, maybe there was a small discussion with these individuals that can lead us back down the line of finding this individual."

Filla said fugitives who have been on the run for a long time sometimes get careless, and that's when they get caught.

"They've got to be lucky every day, we've got to be lucky that one time," Filla said.
